Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center recently opened a new Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center. The state-of-the-art outpatient center, located at 215 Teaco Road, offers advanced technologies and proven clinical practice guidelines in the treatment of chronic, non-healing wounds.

“For most people, cuts and scratches heal within days,” says Chief Executive Officer Clyde Wood.  “But for those whose natural healing process is hampered, a simple sore can become a complex medical problem lasting weeks or months requiring specialized care.”

The Program’s Medical Director, Steve Pu, D.O., will coordinate an overall care plan for each patient, working in partnership with the patient’s referring physician.

“We are excited to have added this service for our patients,” says Pu.  “Not only does the Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center complement the quality care already available at the hospital, but it fills an important need in the in the community. In the past, people may have had to travel long distances to receive this level of wound care.  Now we offer the latest techniques right here in our own community.”

Nationally, approximately 7 million people suffer from wounds that will not heal; a serious problem that can lead to amputation of limbs and dramatically impaired quality of life.  Associated with inadequate circulation, poorly functioning veins and immobility, non-healing wounds occur most frequently in the elderly and in people with diabetes.

The Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center at Twin Rivers accepts physician referrals and self-referrals. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, please call: 573-717-7500.
