KENNETT, Missouri: Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center was awarded an Asthma Ready® certificate by the University of Missouri-Columbia, making it the first hospital in Missouri to earn this distinction.
Dr. Ben Francisco, Director of the Asthma Ready Communities Organization says that the hospital provided asthma education to more than 250 employees. The hospital also committed to maintaining essential equipment and resources, appropriate services and coordination of services with community health agencies, and quality improvement efforts.
Additionally, the hospital collaborated with local physician offices and the Kennett School District in providing asthma awareness to the community. As a result, the school district received $575,000 grant to purchase supplies and resources for asthma education.
Dr. Francisco credits this to, “A strong hospital, strong clinic practices and strong school.”
