Dorsopathy – diseases of the spine

Diseases of the spine, which are grouped under the name dorsopathy, are associated with degenerative-dystrophic changes in the spine and surrounding tissues. The pathological condition is noted in almost every person over 40 years old. The intensity of the symptoms of dorsopathy may be different, but in any case, the manifestations cause discomfort and worsen the quality of life.

Now doctors agree that the main reason for the development of dorsopathy is the sedentary lifestyle of modern people. This is due to widespread automation, which reduces the average level of physical activity.

Understanding dorsopathy, what it is, the question arises about the factors provoking it. First of all, the risks of a pathological condition arise due to the peculiarities of modern children’s education. Schoolchildren have to be in a sitting position for a long time. This changes the natural muscle tone already in childhood. This leads to posture disorders, the occurrence of scoliosis and the development of other pathologies. Because of this, dorsopathies occur in adulthood.

Other factors causing problems with the spine or perinvertebral tissues:

  • Lack of mobility. Due to the widespread use of transport, the Internet, gadgets, physical activity decreases. This leads to a weakening of the muscular corset, an increase in the risk of injury and, as a result, the development of degenerative changes.
  • Production factors. Many people, due to their professional activities, are forced to maintain a static position for a long time during the working day. In addition, by the nature of the activity, many have to withstand excessive loads on certain muscles. This has a negative impact on the musculoskeletal system.
  • Psychoemotional tension. Stress causes increased muscle tension and changes in muscle tone. Most often, problems with the spine arise in the leaders of power, financial structures, who often have to make responsible decisions.
  • Overweight. With excess body weight, the load on the spine increases significantly, which leads to inflammatory processes and degenerative changes. The problem in such cases is aggravated by physical inactivity.
  • Heredity. Today, the genetic predisposition of people to certain diseases of the musculoskeletal system has been proven. For example, connective tissue weakness is inherited. Against this background, conditions arise for the development of dorsopathy.

Dorsopathies are classified according to the peculiarities of the course of diseases. According to the severity of the process , there are three variants of the pathological condition:

  • In the acute process of the disease, pain persists for no more than 3 weeks.
  • In the subacute process, the pain syndrome is noted for 12 weeks.
  • With a chronic process, soreness is felt for 4 months or more than 25 seizures are recorded throughout the year.

Deforming dorsopathies are associated with spinal deformities. In this case, osteochondrosis, scoliosis, spondylolysis, etc. develops. In this group of pathologies, there is no decrease in the mobility of the spinal column.

Spondylopathy is characterized by the presence of dystrophic changes in the spine. A distinctive feature of the diseases of this group is a decrease in the mobility of the spinal column. The most common diseases are osteomyelitis and spondylosis. In addition, this group of dorsopathies includes inflammation of the discs and injuries due to overexertion.

A group of other dorsopathies is singled out separately. Most often these are diseases that are associated with degenerative disc changes, which is the cause of the formation of a protrusion or hernia. This also includes pain syndrome, which is noted against the background of various functional changes.

Dorsopathies are classified

With the development of dorsopathies, various types of pain occur. With local pathologies, the pain syndrome is noted exclusively in the affected area. If the pain is noted along the course of the nerve, then they talk about the development of projection dorsopathies. When the root is squeezed, sensitivity disorders, decreased reflexes and muscle weakness are observed.

Diagnosis and treatment

Knowing dorsopathy, it is necessary to understand that the correct treatment can be carried out only after an accurate diagnosis. Now you can buy effective medicines at the pharmacy inexpensively, which quickly eliminate the pain syndrome.

The primary diagnosis is performed by a neurologist. The doctor analyzes the patient’s complaints and performs anamnesis collection. Be sure to conduct a neuroortopedic examination according to a special program. Radiography of the spinal column is also prescribed. This allows you to detect traumatic injuries and other pathological changes. At the final stage, a computed tomography of the spine is prescribed to confirm the diagnosis. If necessary, other highly specialized specialists are involved in the examination.

Treatment of dorsopathies is always prescribed individually, taking into account the characteristics of a particular disease and the patient’s condition in an outpatient setting. Effective drug therapy is carried out using medicines of various groups. Physiotherapy procedures accelerate the stabilization of the condition. Physical therapy and massage are prescribed for recovery. If the pathology does not respond to conservative treatment for six months, then an operation is performed. After surgery, a long recovery period is required under the supervision of a doctor.
